Until He Returns || Come, Lord Jesus
  -

2 Thessalonians 3:16
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.The Lord be with you all.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 9
For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.
2 Thessalonians 1:5-10
This (persecution) is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— 6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.
ALREADY & NOT YET
Philippians 3:12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
-We have already been “raised with Christ”. Therefore “we seek the things that are above” (Col. 3:1) because they are not yet in our possession for the fullest enjoyment.
-Our old self has already been “crucified with Christ” but we must “consider ourselves dead to sin” (Rom. 6:6, 11) because right now we are not yet experiencing the fullness of our death to sin and life to God.
God “has already delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son” (Col. 1:13) And “the Lord will… bring us safely into his Heavenly Kingdom” (2 Tim 4:18)
The already forgiven, justified, adopted, Spirit-filled Christian soul is the only soil where the not yet promises of Christ can take root and bear fruit.
WHY WE LONG FOR HIS RETURN ?
1.The full redemption of The Bride (Church)
             2.All wrongs made right. Justice.
How do we live the return ready life?
1. Stay awake and sober.
“Stay awake” Matthew 24:42
“Be ready” Luke 12:4
“Be vigilant” Luke 21:36
“Be on guard” Mark 13:23
“Watch yourselves” Luke 21:34
“Any presumption of Christ’s delay to justify worldliness puts a heart in a position of spiritual suicide” – John Piper.
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Luke 21:34
But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
How do we live the return ready life?
1. Stay awake and sober.
2. Be alert, but not alarmed.
Matthew 24:5-6
For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-2
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,[a] 2 not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come
James 5:7-11
Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. 10 As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.
1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
Get to Work!
Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
