John || The Why Behind The What
  -

John 14:30-31
I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
If you understood why it’s happening you wouldn’t be troubled with what is happening.
NOT the reason why it’s (cross, death, departure) going to happen….
Vs 30 “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me”
Satan has nothing on Jesus because Jesus is..
1. Not sinful
2.Not subordinant
Why it’s (cross, death, departure) going to happen…..
Vs 31- “I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father.”
This is not…
Satanic compulsion. This is a sacred commission.
This is not hell’s victory. This is heaven’s strategy.
This is not forced surrender. This is faithful submission.
The deepest roots of salvation are not our good works, it is the love of the Son for the Father and the Fathers love for the Son.
What is the root of their troubled hearts?
What is the cause of their troubled hearts? Self-centered love.
Vs 28 – You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Here’s what you should be feeling if you understand why I’m going to the cross.
1.TRUST (vs 29)
2.JOY (vs 28)
TRUST –
John 14:29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.
JOY-
John 14:28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Your joy is being caught up in the joy that the Father has for the Son and the Son has for the Father.
YOU ARE NOT A BYSTANDER
Every temptation comes down to one temptation.
It’s the temptation to believe that attaining joy (the satisfaction of the deepest desires of your heart) is your job.
Hebrews 12:2
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
