John || I Am the Door
John 10:7 – So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Door = The only legitimate way into God’s flock.
John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
Door = The barrier preventing sheep’s self destruction.
John 10:8 – All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
John 10:9 – I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
Going in = rest, security, protection in/through darkness
Going out = nourishment, freedom, guidance
THROUGH
Faithful assurance that I’ve gone through Jesus (The Door) and that He’s gone through the cross gives me unshakable hope no matter what I’ve gone through, am going through, or will go through.
DOOR = What you must go through to find your goal of glory (God’s purpose for your life).
Did Jesus have a “door” ? ie. something He went through to accomplish God’s goal of glory for His life?
Slide- The “DOOR” of Christ = The CROSS of Christ
Slide- The CROSS = The culmination of the curse of sin. The place where every bad thing, or all time, past, present, future was dealt with.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – For our sake He (God the Father) made him (God the Son) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him (through) we might become the righteousness of God.
Hebrews 2:14 – Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he (Jesus) himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
What I must go through = Jesus (The Door), The Stricken & Slain Shepherd, The Sacrificial Lamb of God.
Faithful assurance that I’ve gone through Jesus (The Door) and that He’s gone through the cross gives me unshakable hope no matter what I’ve gone through, am going through, or will go through.
If Jesus is “the door” that means WHO i’ve gone through is now more important that WHAT I’ve gone through, am going through, or will go through.
How do I know that I’ve gone through The Door ?
-I Hear his voice (vs 3)
-I Follow the Shepherd (vs 3-4)
-I don’t listen to strangers (vs 5)
-I live like I’ve “found pasture” (vs 9)
