John || Hope After Advent
Christmas is not about novelty and sentiment, it’s about nearness and sacrifice.
John 6:39 – And this is the will of Him (The Father) who sent me (The Son), that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
Advent = arrival, coming, appearance
The Shepherd has come.
The Shepherd is with us.
The Shepherd will come again.
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Incarnation & Coronation & Consummation
Matthew 1:20-21 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
John 10:10-11 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
