WHEN YOU PRIORITIZE COMFORT OVER CALLING, IT ALWAYS LEADS TO COMPLACENCY
2 Samuel 11: 1-3
In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her.
1. Complacency is the breeding ground of compromise and catastrophe.
“the idle man tempts Satan to tempt him.”
2. Complacency’s consequences are always broader than you think.
3. Complacency and all of its consequences can find redemption in Christ.
Psalm 51
John 4:34
“My food, is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
Luke 22:42
In the garden he prayed – “Not my will, but yours be done.“
Because of that , we never see complacency or compromise.
Here’s how Christ helps us kill complacency in our own lives:
- By his example
- His Holy Spirit sent to us
- By His grace
- By his calling
- He Helps us By his church – we need each other.
