The sacrifice to avoid –

Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:8-9
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday andtoday and forever. Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them.

Jesus + Nothing = Everything
Jesus + Something = Nothing

The Sacrifice to approach

Hebrews 13:10
We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat.

Altar – (Hebrew) mizbah =  slaughter/sacrifice
(Greek) thusiastérion = place of sacrifice

Hebrews 10:5-14
Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; 6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’” 8When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Hebrews 13:11
For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp.

Hebrews 13:12-13
So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let usgo to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured.

Execution (CROSS) & Exaltation (CROWN)

“Take your place with the suffering of Christ. It is a place excluded from the unbelieving society and covered in shame and reproach. As His suffering was the means of His exaltation, so identifying with him in his suffering is the means by which His people enter God’s presence through Him.  -Gareth Cockerill

Through Seeing Christ’s exaltation we find grace to face our execution. Through persevering through the execution we receive entrance into the exaltation.

Hebrews 13:14
For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

Revelation 21:22
And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
