Yesterday it was announced that Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp would be declaring Georgia’s first ever public health emergency today. With this announcement will come a call for faith communities like ours to abstain from our large group gatherings and to move to online forms of meeting if possible to prevent the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
In light of this new development the leadership of MCC has made the call to not to have our normally scheduled worship services this Sunday (March 15th) and next Sunday (March 22nd).
Along with this all Wednesday Night programing is canceled for this coming week and next.
COMMUNITY GROUPS– It is optional for groups to meet in homes, but we encourage discretion and caution here. If you’re elderly or already ill, don’t meet with others. If you choose to meet as a group, follow health guidelines upon entering and exiting peoples homes.
Right now we are confident that we will still be able to have some sort of Live online gather through platforms like facebook and/or youtube. We are not sure yet for this Sunday as to what time these videos would go live, so please stay tuned for more information. Live Streaming is still something our team is becoming more familiar with and we’re doing our best to make sure we’re still able to connect virtually in the days and weeks ahead.
To the Elderly, If you are elderly or have health compromising issues, please take extra precautions knowing that you are at greater risk. If there is anything we can do as a church to assist you please reach out to email@example.com. We are more than willing to assist in things like food delivery and prescription pick up. For the most accurate information and guidelines, please refer to the Center for Disease Control. The article below has great info as to who is at higher risk
How to stay connected- If you have not already done so, please go on and join the McDonough Christian Church facebook group. NOTE: This is different than liking our facebook page. The group will be a place where we can share prayer requests, needs, and encouragement with each other. Our facebook page is essentially our front porch of our church online and the facebook group is more like the living room. This will be the place where we will have Bible studies, post daily encouragement and have prayer gatherings.
This is new territory for us, but it is not for Jesus. He’s with us in the midst of this and He’s going to guide us through this with His perfect love that casts out fear. We’re committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure the gospel message doesn’t slow down just because we can’t all be under the same roof. Our hope in all of this is that BEING the church, not just COMING to church would still be a priority for all of us.
Grace + Peace,
